OceanBased Perpetual Energy was honored to be among the exhibitors and participants in Dominion Energy’s Fourth Annual Innovation Expo on Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Themed as “The Future is Now,” the event focused on the dynamic of incredible present-day innovations, robotics and technologies, and their future applications in work and life with expert-led breakout sessions, interactive group discussions and industry exhibitors.
OceanBased Perpetual Energy, a revolutionary renewable energy developer, has a mission to harness #energy from the Florida Gulf Stream current and convert it to clean, renewable power for the production of green hydrogen fuel and future grid connections.
In May 2020, OceanBased completed our Gulf Stream Power Demonstration, proving that the perpetual flow of the Gulf Stream currents indeed can independently produce clean power for a continuous 24-hour periods using various turbine configurations.
This success compels OceanBased’s next phase, which will be to demonstrate a 1 MW full-scale mobile system, using the Gulf Stream-generated clean power to produce green hydrogen fuel. This will be followed by a 5 MW array to set the stage for full commercialization of 100 MW arrays, thus providing clean energy from ocean currents for generations to come.
Among the Innovation Expo Breakout Sessions was “The Future of Hydrogen,” in which attendees learned about the role of hydrogen, its future within the energy industry and why Dominion Energy is making it a focus. Dominion Energy-based and affiliated speakers included:
Jim Eck, VP & GM Ohio & West Virginia Distribution
Craig Wagstaff, SVP & General Manager Western Distribution
Emil Avram, VP Business Development
Janice Lin, Chief Executive Officer, Strategen
Andrew Hegewald, Gas Business Development Manager – West
Futurist Mike Walsh, a leading authority on technology, transformation and leadership, served as the event’s Keynote Speaker, who cautioned that the world is about to experience a decade’s worth of change within the next 12 months through digital channels or leveraging AI, algorithms and automation to ensure business continuity.
His inspiring presentation provided an insight into organizations and leaders who are successfully navigating this juncture, and how they are creating a playbook for their own transformation.
“Becoming future-proof is more than just about getting through the current crisis – it is about being ready for the new world that awaits us on the other side,” Walsh explained.
